Beginner Rule

Don't chase Anivia through Glacial Storm (R) — her large ice storm ability — as it deals heavy damage over time.

Threat Overview

Anivia is a control mage who dominates fights by controlling where enemies can move. She wants to trap opponents with Crystallize (W) — her ice wall ability — while dealing damage through Glacial Storm (R). Many beginners lose by chasing Anivia through her ultimate or forgetting about her rebirth passive.

Power Spikes

Level 6 – Ultimate gives waveclear and zone control.

First Item – Damage becomes much more consistent.

Two Items – Teamfight threat increases significantly.

Abilities — What to Dodge

Flash FrostQ
Q
Flash Frost
▶ hover for preview

What it does

Fires a slow ice sphere that chills enemies on the way. Explodes for bonus damage and stuns on manual detonation or at max range.

How to play against

The sphere moves slowly — sidestep it. Getting chilled sets up her E double-damage. After being chilled, immediately back away.

What it does

Instantly creates an impassable wall of ice that blocks all movement for a short duration.

How to play against

She walls to cut off retreats. Never stand where a wall between you and safety could appear. It's often used reactively when you try to run.

What it does

Fires a freezing gust. Deals double damage to enemies recently hit by Q or inside her R storm.

How to play against

This is how she one-shots you — Q chill into E double damage. If you're chilled, back away from E range immediately.

R

What it does

Summons a stationary storm of ice and hail damaging and slowing enemies inside.

How to play against

Walk out of the storm zone — it's stationary. Inside it her E deals double damage. Never stay inside her R.

Common Combos

Q → E

Core burst combo.

R → Q → E

Standard trading pattern.

Wall → Q → E

Forces difficult positioning.

Passive

Passive

Rebirth: when she takes fatal damage she reverts to an egg and can be reborn at full health. Don't leave her at low HP without enough burst to kill the egg — she'll regen back to full.
