Mage / Specialist
Beginner Rule
Pay attention to where Azir's soldiers are, not just where Azir is standing.
Azir is a control mage who deals damage through summoned soldiers rather than direct attacks. He wants to use soldiers to poke safely before controlling fights with Emperor's Divide (R) — his wall of soldiers ultimate. Many beginners focus on Azir himself instead of respecting his soldiers' range.
Level 6 – Gains powerful disengage and playmaking tools.
First Item – Consistent poke and damage improve significantly.
Three Items – Becomes a major late-game carry.

QWhat it does
Commands all Sand Soldiers toward a location. Soldiers deal magic damage and slow as they pass through enemies.
How to play against
His soldiers attack you at melee range while he stands far away. Stay at angles where you're not lined up with both Azir and a soldier.
WWhat it does
Summons a Sand Soldier to attack for him in a line, replacing his basic attack within the soldier's range.
How to play against
The soldiers attack everyone in a line behind you. Don't stand in a straight line between a soldier and Azir. Move sideways constantly.
EWhat it does
Shields briefly and dashes to one of his soldiers, damaging enemies in the path. If he hits a champion he halts and readies a new soldier.
How to play against
He dashes to soldiers — track where soldiers are placed. The dash plus soldier summon enables a constant wave of attacks.
RWhat it does
Summons a wall of soldiers that charges forward, knocking back and damaging enemies.
How to play against
The wall can knock you into his team or away from safety. Watch the angle — he'll aim it to funnel you into a bad position.
W → Q → Auto Attacks

R → Team Follow-Up

Shurima's Legacy: he can summon the Disc of the Sun from the ruins of allied or enemy turrets. A sandstone turret appears at ruins — be aware of extra turret coverage zones.
