Beginner Rule
Don't sacrifice half your health trying to farm against Caitlyn's poke.
Caitlyn is a lane bully who uses superior range and traps to build early advantages. She wants to constantly pressure enemies with poke while controlling space through Yordle Snap Trap (W) — her trap ability. Many beginners lose too much health trying to farm against her early pressure.
Level 1 – One of the strongest lane bullies in the game.
Level 6 – Gains long-range execute pressure with Ace in the Hole (R).
First Item – Headshot and poke damage become much harder to trade against.
Headshot procs
Trap setups around objectives
Bush control
Ultimate execute
QWhat it does
Revs her rifle for 1 second then fires a penetrating shot dealing physical damage, reduced on subsequent targets.
How to play against
She telegraphs the wind-up animation. Sidestep during the rev. Standing in a minion line forces the damage to split.
WWhat it does
Sets an invisible trap. When sprung it immobilises the enemy and grants Caitlyn an empowered headshot at doubled range.
How to play against
Watch for trap particles in bushes and around objectives. Triggering one gives her a free point-blank headshot from across the lane.
EWhat it does
Fires a heavy net slowing the target. Recoil launches Caitlyn backward.
How to play against
The recoil is her escape tool or repositioning. When she nets you she backs away — if she netted aggressively she can't immediately follow up.
RWhat it does
Channels a massive shot at a single target at extreme range. Enemy champions can step in front to intercept it.
How to play against
Use a dash or Flash immediately when targeted. An ally standing in front blocks it completely.
Trap → Headshot → Q
Punishes enemies caught by crowd control.
E → Headshot → Q
Creates distance while dealing burst damage.
Auto → Headshot Proc
Core lane trading pattern.

Headshot: every few basic attacks she fires a headshot dealing bonus damage scaling with crit chance. Doubled range against trapped or netted targets. She'll space to proc headshots safely — respect the empowered auto.
