Juggernaut
Beginner Rule
Never let Garen walk into melee range for free.
Garen is a durable melee fighter with strong trades and execute damage. He wants to use Decisive Strike (Q) — his speed boost and silence ability — to quickly close the gap before wearing enemies down with Judgment (E). Many beginners underestimate how quickly Garen can reach them once he starts running forward.
Level 2-3 – Access to Q and E creates strong trades.
Level 6 – Demacian Justice adds execute pressure.
First Item – Much easier to stick to targets.
Q movement speed
Silence
Flash + Q engages
Ultimate execute
QWhat it does
Gains Move Speed and silences you. His next basic attack deals significant bonus damage.
How to play against
The silence stops your abilities for a moment. Back away immediately after — don't try to cast during the silence.
WWhat it does
Gains a substantial damage reduction shield and tenacity.
How to play against
Don't waste your main burst while W is active. The damage reduction is significant — wait it out.
EWhat it does
Spins dealing repeated physical damage in an AoE around him. Reduces target's Armor on sustained spinning.
How to play against
Back out of the spin zone immediately. The Armor shred enables his full combo. Don't stand inside it.
RWhat it does
Calls down Demacian Justice dealing true damage that scales with the target's current missing health.
How to play against
Keep your HP above 30-40% near Garen. His R executes more effectively the lower you are.
Q → E → R
Standard kill combo.
Flash → Q → E → R
Surprise all-in.
Q → E → Ignite → R
Maximizes execute damage.

Perseverance: when not recently attacked by an enemy champion Garen rapidly regenerates health. He heals quickly between trades — don't trade then disengage and let him heal. Commit or stay away.
