Beginner Rule
Watch Gnar's Rage bar — fights become much more dangerous when he's close to transforming.
Gnar is a ranged fighter who alternates between poke and powerful engage depending on his form. He wants to build Rage safely before transforming into Mega Gnar, where he gains crowd control and burst damage. Many beginners forget to track his Rage bar and get caught by unexpected transformations.
Level 6 – Mega Gnar gains stronger all-ins.
First Item – Poke and mobility improve.
Teamfights – Mega Gnar can control entire fights.
Mega Gnar transformation
Wall stuns
Boomerang poke
Teamfight engages
QWhat it does
Mini: throws a boomerang that deals damage and slows on hit and return. Catching it reduces cooldown. Mega: boulder that stops on first unit hit dealing AoE damage.
How to play against
Dodge both passes — the boomerang hits twice. Getting slowed near the Rage threshold enables Mega transformation into you.
WWhat it does
Mini: empowered third attack dealing bonus damage and Move Speed. Mega: stomps the area in front stunning enemies.
How to play against
In Mega form the stomp is a hard stun. Back away from him when he's in Mega form.
EWhat it does
Mini: leaps and bounces off a hit target. Mega: lands with AoE damage.
How to play against
Mini Gnar can bounce over your head and out of a gank. Mega's landing deals AoE — sidestep the landing zone.
RWhat it does
Mega Gnar throws everything in an area in a chosen direction. Champions hitting walls are stunned for bonus damage.
How to play against
Never stand near walls in Mega Gnar fights. GNAR! slam plus wall stun is his primary kill combo.
Poke → Transform → All-In
Core lane pattern.
E → R Into Wall
Massive engage combo.
Q Spam → Harass
Wears enemies down safely.

Rage Gene: he passively generates Rage from attacking and taking damage. At full Rage he transforms into Mega Gnar. Back off when his Rage bar is near full — Mega Gnar has a completely different and much more dangerous kit.
