Fighter / Battlemage
Beginner Rule
Respect Gragas when Body Slam (E) is available — most of his trades start with it.
Gragas is a durable fighter-mage who excels at disrupting enemies and setting up picks. He wants to land Body Slam (E) — his dash and stun ability — before chaining crowd control and burst damage together. Many beginners underestimate how much damage Gragas can deal while building defensively.
Level 3 – Full trading combo unlocked.
Level 6 – Explosive Cask adds powerful engage and disengage.
First Item – Damage and survivability improve significantly.

Objective fights
QWhat it does
Rolls a charged barrel that slows on explosion. Charge duration increases damage.
How to play against
Sidestep the barrel. Without the slow his combo has no setup. The longer he charges the bigger the explosion.
WWhat it does
Drinks, gaining damage reduction and empowering his next basic attack.
How to play against
Don't trade into his W damage reduction. The empowered auto is his main melee burst — bait W then disengage.
EWhat it does
Dashes forward in a direction stunning anything in the way on impact.
How to play against
His gap-close and stun. When E is down he has no engage. Trade heavily when his E is on cooldown.
RWhat it does
Lobs a cask that explodes knocking all enemies in a direction of his choosing.
How to play against
He'll knock you into his team or away from safety. Position away from dangerous directions before he can aim the cask at you.
E → Q → Auto → W
Standard trade combo.
Flash → E → Full Combo
Surprise engage.
R → Team Follow-Up
Separates enemies from teammates.

Happy Hour: on ability use Gragas drinks, restoring a portion of his max health. He sustains from using abilities — anti-heal (Executioner's/Morellonomicon) reduces this passive healing.
