Mage / Burst
Beginner Rule
If Lux misses Light Binding (Q) — her root ability — she's much easier to punish.
Lux is a burst mage who excels at long-range poke and picks. She wants to land Light Binding (Q) — her root ability — before following up with the rest of her combo. Many beginners get caught by Q and lose most of their health before they can react.
Level 6 – Final Spark adds huge burst damage.
First Item – Poke becomes significantly stronger.
Two Items – Can quickly burst squishy targets.
Q roots
Long-range poke
Fog-of-war skillshots
Ultimate snipes
QWhat it does
Releases a light sphere binding and dealing damage to up to two champions in a line.
How to play against
A classic root skillshot — sidestep it. Don't stand in a straight line with a teammate near her.
WWhat it does
Throws her wand bending light around any friendly champion it touches, protecting them.
How to play against
She can shield two allies per cast. Burn through the shield before engaging on the protected target.
EWhat it does
Fires an anomaly that slows nearby enemies. Can be manually detonated for AoE damage.
How to play against
Two-stage threat: the initial slow field then the detonation. Move out of the AoE between cast and detonation.
RWhat it does
Fires a long-range laser beam dealing magic damage. Refreshes Illumination marks on hit.
How to play against
A line-wide massive beam at global range. Move perpendicular to the beam path immediately.
Q → E → R
Standard burst combo.
E → Zone → Detonate
Controls space safely.
Q → Full Combo
Punishes caught targets.

Illumination: her spells mark enemies with light energy. Lux's basic attacks and R can consume the mark dealing bonus magic damage. After her Q root her auto always procs the mark — expect the empowered auto immediately after root.
