Marksman
Beginner Rule
Respect Chain of Corruption (R) — Varus can start fights from surprisingly long range.
Varus is a marksman who excels at poke, picks, and burst damage. He wants to apply Blight (Passive) stacks before detonating them with abilities or catching targets with Chain of Corruption (R). Many beginners underestimate how much damage his empowered abilities can deal.
Level 6 – Ultimate creates strong pick potential.
First Item – Poke or burst damage spikes significantly.
Two Items – Major teamfight threat.

QWhat it does
Charges then fires gaining range and damage with charge time.
How to play against
He needs a moment to charge — dodge during the wind-up. The longer he charges the longer the range.
WWhat it does
Passive: attacks deal bonus magic damage and apply Blight. Active: empowers next Q.
How to play against
Three Blight stacks on you enables his abilities to deal bonus max-health damage. Stay mobile so he can't stack all three.
EWhat it does
Fires a hail of arrows dealing physical damage, slowing, and applying anti-heal to the ground.
How to play against
Move out of the AoE quickly. The anti-heal on the ground is particularly strong against healing supports.
RWhat it does
Flings corruption tendrils that immobilise the first champion hit. The tendrils spread to nearby champions.
How to play against
Don't cluster near other champions against Varus — the tendril chain spreads to everyone nearby.
Auto → Auto → Q
Detonates Blight stacks.
R → Full Combo
Creates picks and burst damage.
Poke Rotation → Re-engage
Wears enemies down.

Living Vengeance: on champion kill or assist he temporarily gains bonus Attack Speed. After a kill his attack speed spikes — don't engage him immediately after he gets a kill.
